Celebrating hope and humanity with Darfuri refugees and the beautiful game

STINGZ™ is pleased to unveil Darfur United’s official home playing jersey for the forthcoming season. 

Established in 2012, Darfur United are a football club co-created by iACT, a Los Angeles-based non-profit organisation, together with Darfuri refugees in Eastern Chad on the African continent.

The ethos behind the team is for the beautiful game to act as a vehicle for positive change for a group that have experienced the horrors of genocide, bringing joy to them while at the same time promoting human rights, equity, inclusiveness as well as giving a voice to the Darfuri people and those that have been marginalised. 

The Darfur home jersey is tonal green, with shades of emerald, forest and olive green transcending the entire jersey, and features a traditional tribal pattern ‘watermarked’ into the background.

The home jersey also features orange and black piping along the side panels, as well as the cuffs and collar – the Darfur jerseys are also the first to be fitted with STINGZ’s new off-centre shawl collar. The player numbers are white with orange borders, while iACT and Darfur’s statement, “Humanity Before Politics”, is emblazoned across the front of the jersey. 

We have chosen white, the colour of peace, as the predominant colourway for the Darfur away jersey. The traditional tribal pattern ‘watermarked’ into the background is in light grey and silver to give the jersey an overall clean and subtle aesthetic. The away jersey also features orange and black piping along the side panels, as well as the cuffs and collar to match the new home jersey.

For the home GK jersey, we have chosen a lighter yellow and purple colourway, which provides contrast against the green home outfield jerseys and for the away GK jersey, we have chosen a lighter yellow and black colourway, which provides contrast against the white away outfield jerseys, with a crisp green midsection, paying homage to the traditional green club colour of Darfur.

Darfur United are members of the World Unity Football Alliance, a collaborative effort between value-aligned teams with a mission to promote hope, opportunity, and universal human rights while celebrating the joy of bringing people together through the most beautiful of games: Football.
