Matabeleland join STINGZ™ family

STINGZ Sportswear is extremely pleased to announce that they have signed an exclusive two-year agreement with the Matabeleland Football Confederacy (the “MFC” or the “Confederacy”) and has been appointed as official kit suppliers for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

MFC stands for:

  1. Development through sport
  2. Soccer for human rights
  3. International representation
  4. Career grooming!

The Matabeleland football team represents Matabeleland, the western part of Zimbabwe. The team is run by the MFC, an independent football association promoting football in Matabeleland. The Confederacy was founded in 2016 by its President, Busani Sibindi, and Busani Khanye, MFC’s Technical Director.

Matabeleland took the 2018 ConIFA World Football Cup in London by storm, quickly becoming crowd favourites with their traditional singing and dancing, their friendly and warm demeanor and the sheer passion they displayed on and off the pitch. With English coach Justin Walley at the helm, Matabeleland also received a boost with the support of Liverpool great, Bruce Grobbelaar, who would eventually don the MFC jersey and play for them.

As the pandemic subsides, Matabeleland plans to resume touring and bring its unique brand of joyous football to the rest of the world. As part of the partnership, STINGZ™ will design and supply Matabeleland’s men’s and women’s teams with all official playing kit and training wear.

Stay tuned for the launch of our kit design competition.
