STINGZ™ breaks the mould with Tokuyama University’s new rugby jerseys
THE STINGZ™ team are pleased to unveil Tokuyama University Rugby Football Club’s official home and away playing jerseys for the 2020/21 season.
The home jersey is predominantly navy blue with red and white piping, although this season the club and STINGZ™ have decided to break away from the traditional hooped design. Instead, the club has opted for a single, solid colourway with traditional Japanese patterns and motifs watermarked into the front, back and shoulder panels.
This season's away jersey also breaks away from the traditional hooped design, opting for a single, solid colourway with four bands in the centre of the front panel. Similarly to the home jersey, it is adorned with traditional Japanese patterns and motifs watermarked into the front, back and shoulder panels.
The away jersey is predominantly white with red and navy blue piping, and is inspired by the Hong Kong 15's National Team away jersey from the 2003 Rugby World Cup Qualifier campaign, as worn by Tokuyama University RFC's principal patron.
Paying homage to the Rugby World Cup, which was held in Japan last year, the watermarks that feature on both jerseys include the Shippō (Seven Treasures), Kikkō (Tortoiseshell), Tatewaku (Steam), Same Komon (Shark Skin) and Seigaiha (Blue Ocean Waves) traditional motifs.
The use of the shield on the club’s crest has been dispensed with, leaving just the lion motif and the TURFC wording underneath.
For this season, STINGZ™ have again applied the raglan sleeve construction with elite fit in order to give the players a more body-hugging kit.
Everybody at STINGZ™ wishes Tokuyama University Rugby Football Club the best of luck for the season ahead.
