STINGZ™ founder proud to partner with Wallsend RFC

WE are extremely pleased to announce that Wallsend Rugby Football Club has joined the STINGZ™ family.

Wallsend is a major rugby club from the Tyne & Wear area and boasts an extremely rich heritage in the sport. 

This is a particularly poignant signing for STINGZ™ co-founder, Ernest Stobbs, who is a Wallsend lad.

Ernest, 39, has fond memories of growing up in Wallsend and is proud to play a role in his local rugby club’s history, by supplying the club’s new kit via his sportswear company STINGZ™.

He said: “I still consider myself a Wallsend lad, although I moved away from the North East some 10 years ago.

“To have the opportunity to create something that I feel really captures the heart and soul of Wallsend, is a great privilege. I hope I have done the club and its people proud.

“All will be revealed soon.”

Peter Hamil, Director of Rugby at Wallsend RFC, chose  STINGZ™ to design and manufacture their on and off field apparel for the 2020/2021 season, as he was impressed by STINGZ’s™ passion and their innovative approach to kit design.

He said: “I made it my goal to find a new innovative kit supplier who was current, and knows what teams want.

“I reached out to STINGZ™ after seeing some of their previous kits and leisure apparel, and I have not been disappointed.

“The STINGZ™ team has been nothing short of fantastic in dealing with my every wish. Communications have been perfect and their passion has been clear from the off.

“The kits designed and sampled have lived up to my expectations and I look forward to kitting out the club in the STINGZ™ gear very soon.”

Established circa 1881, Wallsend RFC adopted their iconic green and gold colours, following the amalgamation of Swan’s, Vicker’s, Hawthorn Leslie’s and Readhead’s to create the “British Shipbuilders”. It was at this point at which grounds were offered to the club.

In 2012, the club was finally given permission to set up home permanently at Battle Hill Playing Fields.

From 2020, Wallsend will no longer just be known for Hadrian’s Wall, but also for being home of one of the UK’s most exciting and forwarding-thinking rugby clubs, who proudly wear bespoke designed kit from supplier, STINGZ™.
