STINGZ™ partnership the start of something big at Wallsend RFC
WE are extremely honoured to unveil the official Wallsend RFC 2nd XV's Jersey for the 2020/21 Season.
Wallsend becomes STINGZ™ flagship club in England, and the partnership will see STINGZ™ supply the club with official match wear, training wear and leisure wear.
Following the unveiling of the extremely successful NHS jersey to raise vital funds for NHS charities in the northeast, the Warriors' jersey becomes the first item of match wear to be unveiled since the consummation of the strategic partnership.
The bespoke design of the Warriors' jersey pays homage to the club's rich Roman history. The shoulder plate and chest plate designs are inspired by the armour of Roman soldiers, while the Scutum, the famous shield of the Legionaries, appears on the back of the jersey.
The larger player numbers are in Roman numerals, while the corresponding, smaller modern Arabic numerals appear above them. The club's motto appears on the back of the collar, while a subtle image of a wall appears on the sleeves, a nod to Hadrian's Wall, the club's namesake.
The Warriors' Jersey adopts Wallsend RFC's traditional green and gold colourway, and is crafted using raglan sleeve construction, with a ribbed stand up collar as well as durable flatlock and reinforcement stitching.
Wallsend RFC Club Chairman, Duke McIntyre, said: “Wallsend is well known for its lively locals and the same could be said about us back when the Romans were here.
“There's always something big going on at the Zend and this season is no different. We are growing bigger and stronger every week. This is reflected in our club motto: ‘Situ Exoritur Segeduni’, which translates into ‘Situation Arises at Wallsend’.
“Big things are happening at Wallsend RFC, and it all starts with this partnership with STINGZ™.”
While the bespoke design of the 2nd XV's Warriors' jersey pays homage to the club's rich Roman history, the 1st XV's jersey design reflects both the traditional and the contemporary side of Wallsend's history.
The cranes at the bottom of the front and back panels of the jersey are inspired by the shipbuilding design, engineering and construction works in Wallsend, especially Swan Hunter.
The club was once Swan Hunters Rugby Club. Swan Hunter features once again via the subtle swan image at the front left hem of the jersey. Wallsend RFC became the club it is today in 1969.
The feather patterns that adorn the front of the shirt represent the Aquila that adorns the club’s crest and the Coat of Arms for both Wallsend and North Tyneside Council. In Roman times, the Aquila (eagle) stood for power and courage.
The club's motto appears on the back of the collar, while a subtle image of a wall appears on the sleeves, a nod to Hadrian's Wall, the Club's namesake.
The 1st XV's' jersey adopts Wallsend RFC's traditional green and gold colourway, although unlike the Warriors' jersey, the front panel is mainly green while the back panel is predominantly gold. The jersey is crafted using raglan sleeve construction, with a ribbed stand up collar as well as durable flatlock and reinforcement stitching.
