uKNIGHTed for Ukraine

SPECIAL limited edition rugby kits will be sold to raise money to provide vital aid to Ukrainian refugees.

Malta Rugby League, in conjunction with sports apparel brand STINGZ, have made available special edition player issue kit to be sold to raise money for UNICEF, a charity that is proving aid to children and families displaced by the war in Ukraine.

The kits are player issued, but unworn, and feature all sponsors. They are identical to the kit worn in the Malta 54-6 win over Macedonia Rugby League on Feb 6th 22 at the Leichhardt Oval

STINGZ co-founder, Ernie Stobbs, said: "These kits are player issued and feature all sponsors and shirt numbers. They were spares that were unworn for this particular match. As they were going unused, we felt there was an opportunity to offer fans a little something special, as well as raise funds to help those affected by the war in Ukraine.

"It is incredibility difficult to watch events unfold each day, and you are left with a feeling of helplessness. We realise that this will only contribute a small amount to help those affected, but anything we can do, is better than sitting aside and doing nothing."

The kit includes athletic fit jersey and shorts and cost £80 plus £19.95 international shipping. All proceeds will go to UNICEF.

MRL General Manager, David Axisa added: "As UNICEF are urgently ramping up efforts to deliver aid to the families affected, it pains us to see that children are bearing the brunt of this growing crisis.

"Whilst our initiative is somewhat modest, we're confident that our supporters will get behind us and our partner STINGZ and offer some much needed emergency assistance to the people of Ukraine."
